Privacy Policy
In short
- The app works completely offline. It does not request the Internet permission, so nothing you scan or create can be sent from the app to us or to anyone else.
- We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
- Your scan history and your contact card stay on your device, and you can delete them at any time.
1. Who we are
QR & Barcode Scanner · Rian ("the app") is published by Rian Studio ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: support@rianstudio.app.
2. Information the app handles
All of the following is processed on your device only. None of it is transmitted to us.
- Camera. The camera permission is used only to read QR codes and barcodes. Frames are analysed in memory by an on-device recognition model (Google ML Kit, bundled in the app, and ZXing) and are never recorded or saved.
- Photos. When you choose "Scan from photo" or share an image to the app, you pick it with the Android photo picker. The app reads that one image to find codes and does not keep a copy.
- Scan and creation history. If "Keep history" is on, the content of codes you scan or create (for example a link, text or Wi‑Fi details), their format, time, favourite status and your notes are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Passkey (FIDO) codes are never stored, and two-factor secrets are masked when shown. You can turn history off, delete single records or clear all history in the app.
- My card. Contact details you enter for your own QR business card are stored in the app's private storage on your device.
- Settings. Your preferences (vibration, sound, theme, search engine and so on) are stored on your device.
3. What we do not do
- We do not collect device identifiers, location, contacts or usage statistics.
- We do not use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting services.
- We do not sell, rent or share any information with third parties.
4. Actions you choose
Some actions hand content to another app only when you tap them: opening a link in your browser, searching a code with the search engine you picked, adding a contact or calendar event, connecting to Wi‑Fi, opening a map, calling, texting or emailing, sharing, or copying to the clipboard. Saving a generated code writes an image to your photo gallery. Once content is in another app or service, that app's or service's own privacy policy applies.
5. Device backup
If you have turned on Android's backup or device-to-device transfer, Android may include the app's data (history, card and settings) in your own backup, under your Google account and Google's terms. We cannot access it. You can turn backup off in your device settings.
6. Data retention and deletion
Data stays on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
7. Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
